The E2 Forum Frankfurt provides the industry with a technological and content platform to create a dialogue between the elevator industry and the professionals of vertical transportation management in modern buildings. This technical conference celebrated its premiere on 18 and 19 September 2018 at Frankfurt Exhibition centre in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
The E2 Forum Frankfurt is organised by Messe Frankfurt with the support of the German Elevators and Escalators Division of the VDMA (Association of German Machine and Plant Manufacturers).
Renato Turri, Managing Director and co-owner of PSA Publishers Ltd. in Zurich, acted as moderator of the presentation sessions. At the end of the conference, the role of elevators as an integral part of building planning became clear. In addition to legal and norm compliance planning, the requirements of the customers and their desire for transparency, individuality and refined aesthetics were the most important factors when dealing with elevators in outstanding architectural projects.
Wittur was present at the conference at Stand B01 and showed its expertise in providing tailored elevator components in line with the vision of the architect.
Harald Bohnenstengel from Wittur GmbH delivered a presentation about “Elevator as Architectural Highlights – Vision and Implementation”. Elevators make architectural ideas come true, and design visions can be implemented. Harald Bohnenstengel is convinced of this. "Elevators are no longer just used for passenger transport, they are now a design element. New materials and processing methods have made completely new approaches possible.
A case in point are the panoramic elevators in the Bloomberg Headquarters in London, designed by architect Norman Foster. They are perfectly integrated into the bronze and natural stone façade, and the 3 m high full glass doors of the elevators are opened by an underdriven door mechanism that remains invisible to the end users.
