A New Fire Prevention System to Further Increase Safety at Wittur Colorno

Keeping the installed lift base in perfect working order is the main occupation of many lift companies, in Europe and increasingly globally. According to the latest data published in 2019 by the European Elevator Association, over 6 million 150 thousand lifts are installed in Europe, many of them with more than fifteen years of service. 
The modernisation activities of these lifts generated a turnover of more than €1,629 billion in 2018. 
For a better orientation within this important market, I propose a classification of the main activities of lift modernization in five levels, meeting different needs.

Wittur obtains ISO 45001:2018 certification of all his worldwide sites from TUV Rheinland

Wittur has recently certified the occupational health and safety management systems of all its manufacturing plants and trading companies worldwide according to ISO 45001 standard. 
 

Wittur components at Fourways Mall in Johannesburg, South Africa

4 years, 100.000 sqm of additional retail space (for a total of 178.000 sqm), more than 250 new brands, new infrastructures (improved access roads, a taxi terminal, a bus station), new vehicles and pedestrian entrances (which are now 52 in total) and even more attention to the four themes that characterizes this impressive location: food, fashion, fun, and family.

These are just some highlights of the expansion project recently completed, on August 22, at the Fourways Mall in Johannesburg, the biggest shopping centre in South Africa.

MantovArchitettura is a cultural project conceived and organized by the Mantova Campus of Politecnico di Milano, in the framework of the UNESCO Chair in Architectural Preservation and Planning in World Heritage Cities.

The Wittur Italy sales team is meeting the elevator professionals in a series of sales and technical seminars in various Italian cities.

Besides presenting the latest evolutions of Wittur components, a particular attention is given to the partial modernization of elevators according to UNI 10411: we have in fact developed a series of solutions from the surveys to the existing elevator, to the modernization project with dedicated components, to the delivery of kits containing all the necessary material, including dedicated adapters and supports to reduce the installation time and difficulty.

Wittur Group announces new investor

The Wittur Group (ISIN: XS1188024548, XS1188025438) announced today that Canada’s Public Sector Pension Investment Board (“PSP Investments”) has entered into an agreement to acquire a 32% stake in a parent company of Wittur International Holding GmbH from a company controlled by Bain Capital Private Equity. The Canadian pension fund will closely cooperate with Bain Capital Private Equity  as   sponsor   and   trusted   partner   to  further bolster   Wittur’s   international  expansion. As usual, the transaction is subject to certain closing conditions including the approval of the antitrust authorities. The closing of the transaction is expected in Q1 2019. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the financial details of the agreement.

Wittur India is now ISO 45001:2018 certified

At the end of November 2018, Wittur plant in Chennai (India) has been audited and certified by TUV Rheinland according to ISO 45001:2018, the new international standard that verifies excellence and good practices in Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

Released in March, the new ISO standard puts special emphasis on prevention systems and on the companies' global commitment for the development of a culture of prevention and its continuous improvement. It bases its focus on prevention management as well as on the co-participation of workers and managers in guaranteeing safer and healthier working environments.

Wittur FINELINE reduced sill door now available with restrictor device

Wittur  announces  the  availability of Fineline door in a new execution with restrictor device for coupling with manual swing landing doors according to the requirements of EN81-20/50 (Paragraph 5.3.15.2).

The restrictor device only allows opening of  car  door when aligned with a landing door at each floor.
The new execution is available for 2-panel central opening and side opening and for 4-panel symmetrical and asymmetrical Fineline doors. Dimensions range from 600 to 900 mm clear opening.

On November 7, approximately 100 customers from all across France came to   Wittur’s   local  head office in Lisses, near Paris, for a grand open house.
 
For our French team and our product experts from all over   Wittur’s   world, this was the perfect occasion to present, in our new showroom, the whole range of Wittur solutions and latest product innovations, such as Hydra   eArm   modernization kit (for existing arm-driven Hydra operators), C-Mod car door featuring ECO+ drive and B-G door in vandal-resistant execution. The NAEC'S 69th Annual Convention & 2018 Exposition, the largest vertical transportation show in North America, is going to open its door to professionals of the elevator business on September 24 - 27, 2018 at the Sheraton & Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, NJ.

The exposition houses 200+ exhibits featuring the industry’s newest technology and products. E2 Forum Frankfurt: Innovation Forum for Elevator and Escalator Technology

The E2 Forum Frankfurt provides the industry with a technological and content platform to create a dialogue between the elevator industry and the professionals of vertical transportation management in modern buildings. This technical conference celebrated its premiere on 18 and 19 September 2018 at Frankfurt Exhibition centre in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

This is the very beginning of the exciting story of  Wittur's  Austrian plant, which on September 7 hosted a great party for its 50 years anniversary. A milestone moment celebrated by our employees together with many guests, among them local politicians, retired employees, neighbours and suppliers.

Wittur at ExpoElevador 2018, São Paulo, Sept. 4-5, 2018

On September 4 and 5, São Paulo became the  center  of the elevator world during the seventh edition of ExpoElevador, the exhibition that gathers together every year the top companies and key decision makers in our sector in South America.

Approximately 4200 industry experts, coming from 560 different companies, crowded the new and modern pavilion of the PRO MAGNO exhibition  center  to discover the latest trends, product innovation and future trends in vertical transportation.

Thanks to its privileged position right at the entrance of the fair and to the complete product & solution offer for the local market on display, Wittur stand was among the hottest places in the exhibition and our Brazilian sales team has been really busy during the whole two days in meeting and greeting customers and visitors.

"The exhibition has been a huge success for Wittur. We had lots of interesting contacts and discussions at our stand and a great increase in the overall number of participants, which is making ExpoElevador a not-to-miss event for the entire elevator industry", explains Cristiano Troise, Wittur Brazil Sales Manager. "We had the chance to present our complete range of products for the different local market segments. From modernization and residential solutions, with our newly launched SLIM doors, Augusta EVO ECO door operators with Fineline door panels, to innovative products, such as our 6-panel HydraPlus cabin door equipped with SUPRA motorization, which makes it ideal for big-size lifts. A corner of the stand was dedicated to hydraulic solutions, a growing segment in Brazil, where we displayed  an hydraulic  kit with slings, manufactured locally by one of our business partners and distributed by our sales force all across South America".

Wittur Mexico celebrates the Safety and Environment Day!

On June 11, the Wittur Mexican plant in Monclova celebrated its first Safety and Environmental Day! All the members of the local staff participated in conferences and practical activities related to topics such as Personal Protective Equipment, First Aids, Safety in Cylinders, Emergency Response, Safety on Forklift, Wastes Segregation, Environmental Aspects and Impacts. Some of  Wittur’s  local suppliers, specialized on each topic, led the activities and training sessions.
The target of the day was to increase the safety and environmental awareness of all the participants.
During the opening ceremony, a special video with a safety message dedicated to the workers from their families was shown to the public.
The event was also a good opportunity for Wittur Mexico employees to share a picnic lunch  outdoor , get some fresh air and continue to enjoy the training.

Wittur Austria: day of "open doors"

2018 is not only the 50^th anniversary of the foundation of Wittur Group, the current year also marks 50 years of activities for our Austrian plant based in Scheibbs. Founded in 1968, - exactly when Horst Wittur started his first entrepreneurial project in Miesberg (Germany) - the Scheibbs plant joined Wittur in year  2000, becoming the group’s centre of competence for door electronics and safety components and slings.

Wittur Colorno celebrates 50 years of Wittur

2018 is the 50th anniversary of the foundation of Wittur. Back in 1968, Horst Wittur founded Wittur-Aufzugteile GmbH & Co at the age of 26 in Miesberg near Munich, Germany. 

Our companies around the world are starting to celebrate this milestone moment! On May 26, it was Wittur Italy's turn. Our colleagues in  Colorno opened the doors of the plant to their families and the entire local community for a one-day celebration that reflected the strong bond between our company and the surrounding towns and villages.

The first event of Wittur Spain 2018 Tour took place in Bilbao.

Roberto Zappa named President of the European Lift Association

Roberto Zappa,  member  of the supervisory board of the Wittur Group, has been named President of the European Lift Association (ELA), during the latest General Assembly of the association held in Stockholm (Sweden) on April 17.

Mr.  Zappa will lead the ELA board, whose members are elected among the representatives of the main European national associations, for the next three years (2018-2021).

On April 14, Wittur Turkey organized a full day dedicated to the market launch of the CORE door series, the new flagship product in  Wittur’s  portfolio and clearer example of our global approach to innovation and future door technology.
 
The “CORE Day”, hosted in Istanbul, gathered together an amazing record of 628 customers coming from 28 countries and represented a not-to-miss event for the whole elevator industry.

Aline Estevant-Rigaut joins Wittur Group as new CHRO

The Wittur Group announced today the appointment of Aline Estevant-Rigaut as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), joining the company on April 9^th, 2018.
 
Aline brings over 25 years of international HR experience to Wittur Executive Management Team. She has led human resources teams for major global companies across a variety of business sectors, including chemical, packaging and automotive.
 
Most recently, Aline has served as Global Vice President Human Resources for Borg Warner Turbo Systems in the automotive sector, and similarly for Owens Illinois, an international packaging company. In each organization, she helped drive company-wide transformation programs, setting up a talent and leadership development culture.
 
Born in France, Aline has Masters in HR Management and Business Administration, as well as professional HR qualifications from the London Business School.

Wittur Group will be one of the main exhibitors at the forthcoming WEE Expo 2018, with its booth covering an area of 548 square meters in H7.2-7C03. WEE Expo is scheduled for May 8^th to 11^th at the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Shanghai.

In memoriam: Ercüment Hızal

It is with deep regret and profound sadness that we announce the passing away of  Mr. Ercüment Hızal, the founder and former Managing Director of Wittur Turkey, on 26 March 2018.
 
In addition to his family, those of us who had the opportunity to work with him will also feel a tremendous loss. He was an extraordinarily smart and accomplished entrepreneur.
 
His exceptional work ethic,  long-term commitment to the lift industry, unwavering desire to always do the right thing and his belief that his colleagues were integral to both his personal and the company’s success made him truly one of a kind.
 
Ercüment Hızal will be deeply missed and we extend our sincere condolences to his family.

Hans Koenigshofer appointed COO of Wittur Group

Wittur Group announced today that effective March 1, Johann (Hans) Koenigshofer was appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Member of the Executive Management Team of Wittur Group.
 
Before joining Wittur in March 2018, Hans worked for Palfinger AG in various positions in Austria and China. He started out in July 2007 as CIO responsible for IT, Process Management and Lean Production. From 2010, he was the responsible General Manager for the EMEA business with direct responsibility for all product development, quality, sourcing and operations. In 2015 he took over the responsibility for Asia and relocated to China. In 2017, he was appointed EVP Operations for all Land business of Palfinger.

Taurus Doors for the Centro Botín Museum in Santander: Form Meets Function!

Wittur Taurus heavy-duty doors installed in the main IMEM LIFTS’ passenger+freight elevator of the innovative Spanish visual arts complex “Centro Botín”, in Santander (Spain).
IMEM LIFTS installed a 5-meter-high, 3.8-meter-wide, machine-room-less (MRL) elevator with a 6500-kg/86-passenger capacity serving four floors with a travel distance of 20.3 m at a speed of 1 mps .

Antoine Doutriaux appointed CEO of Wittur Group

The Wittur Group announced today that the Supervisory Board has successfully concluded its search for a new CEO of the company. As of March 1st, Antoine Doutriaux, who previously held leading positions at Valeo and Zodiac Aerospace, will succeed Gerrit Marx who stepped in as interim CEO in June 2017.

During the National Productivity Forum of Slovak Republic (October 11-12, Zilina), Wittur Slovakia won the "National Award of Productivity 2016" in the category of small / mid-size company.
The event saw the participation of key personalities from the national industrial and academic communities, who discussed and shared knowledge, achievements, future trends and methods in the field of productivity and its growth.
The Award was handed over by a representative of the Ministry of Industry and Economics to Mr. Miroslav Pernis, our Corporate Industrialization Manager.

E2 Forum Lab

Wittur was present at E2 Forum LAB, a multi-disciplinary technical conference in Milan on June 27, 2017 to explore the current status and the specific requirements of elevators in countries with high seismic risk.
Ideas and solutions for the proper design and management of the complex interface between the building and the vertical transportation systems in this demanding environment were presented and discussed in front of 164 attendees including special guests from abroad.

34th Edition of Heilbronn Lift Days Conference

The next edition of the “Lift Days” organised by the Technical Academy of Heilbronn (Germany) takes place on March 7th-8th. The theme of this edition is “The lift – a safer place”. The conception and the direction of the congress  is  by Ing. Dip. Klaus Dietel. Twelve presentations will elaborate on this concept by providing expert insights about the new EN 81-20/50 safety standard just a few months before its enforcement in Europe. Moreover, several presentations about new techniques for lift construction (new technologies for lifts) and development in design are scheduled to provide updated information about new trends and their possible application to the lift market.

Wittur announces market launch of its brand new heavy-duty machine WSG-52

Wittur  announces the launch of their high-rise gearless traction machine WSG-52. The WSG-52 marks the top of the gearless machine range of  Wittur  Electric Drives GmbH based in Dresden, Germany. With a nominal torque of 9.200Nm in the WSG-52.3 execution, this machine is designed to lift as much as 9.800kg in 2:1 roping. The travelling speed goes up to a breath-taking 12m/s (in 1:1 applications) which places  Wittur  in a unique position as  independent  component manufacturer.

Wittur Colorno opens its doors to the University of Parma

On December 14, 12 mechanical engineering students from the University of Parma visited the  Wittur  plant in  Colorno  (Italy) for a very special “Open Door Day”,  organized  and coordinated by Barbara  Givera  from our local HR team. The event, part of the local employer branding activities, aims at strengthening the partnership between  Wittur  and one of the main technical universities in Italy as well as presenting our company as an attractive future employer for young, talented graduates. 

CFO Frank Schulkes to leave Wittur Group

The Wittur Group (ISIN: XS1188024548, XS1188025438) announced today that, in agreement with the Supervisory Board, CFO Frank  Schulkes  has decided to leave the company for personal reasons. The Group’s Supervisory Board has initiated the search for a new CFO. With immediate effect, Wittur Group CEO Patrik  Wohlhauser,  will also take on the responsibility for the finance function. He will be supported by an interim CFO Office until a successor is found.

We are pleased to announce that, on November 16th, 2016   Wittur  Spain was acknowledged with an honorary award during the celebration of the XX Anniversary of Awards for Business Excellence, in Zaragoza (Aragón, Spain).

CEA (China Elevator Association) Design & Manufacturing Committee 2016 Annual Meeting was held in Zhangjiagang Changjiang Hotel, on November 10 - 11, 2016. CEA president  Mr.  Li Shoulin, secretary-general of CEA  Mr.  Zhang Lexiang, deputy secretary-general of CEA  Mr.  Wang Mingkai, secretary-general of  national  technical committee on elevators,  Mr.  Chen Fengwang, director of  national  elevator inspection and testing  center,  Mr.  Ma Peizhong and more than 500 industry insiders attended the meeting.

Wittur India’s Success in 2016 QCFI Competition

For the second year in succession,  Wittur  India participated at the chapter level competition of the 25th Silver Jubilee Convention of the Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), Chennai Chapter held on 10th and 11th September 2016. Competitions were held to recognize the best entries under KAIZEN, Slogan, Quiz, Poster and Project presentations. Wittur India nominated two teams;  both teams won the Gold Awards in their respected category of case study presentation.  This was an improvement over the Gold and a Silver Award that  Wittur  India won in 2015!

The next European Lift Congress will take place at  Experimenta  Science Center in Heilbronn, Germany from October 11 to October 12, 2016.
The topic of this  edition,  conceived and managed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfram Vogel is "Lifts for the Future".

Wittur introduces patented split housing gearless for the modernization of high rise lifts

Wittur Electric Drives GmbH announced today the launch of the WGG 29, a new traction machine for the modernization of high rise lifts. This new synchronous high-efficiency gearless drive offers outstanding performances, with a max. load of 5000 kg and a max speed of 5 m/s (with 2:1 rope arrangement).
A breakthrough innovation introduced by the WGG 29 is its split housing design, which delivers a perfect solution for the easy replacement of high rise lift machines when space and accessibility to machine room are limited. When disassembled, WGG 29 can be moved through a standard door of 800 mm width.

Wittur at WEE EXPO 2016: stronger than ever!

Change in Senior Management following the Acquisition of Sematic

The Wittur Group announced today that following the acquisition of Sematic Group the integration and the future strategic development of the Group will be overseen by a new Chief Financial Officer. On February 22, 2016, Frank Schulkes, former CFO and Executive Vice President of GE Healthcare, will be appointed as new CFO of the Wittur Group. Daniel Wiest has resigned from his current role, effective February 22, 2016, to pursue other opportunities. To ensure a smooth transition, Mr. Wiest will remain associated with the Group in an advisory capacity.

Liftismore: Wittur presents a Chinese publication about special elevator projects

Last year Wittur presented a publication focused on special elevator projects developed by Wittur with architects and consultants worldwide.
Wittur now launchs the Chinese version of this book for the convenience of Chinese readers.
The book "LIFTISMORE" aims at introducing some architectural project where the elevator design was considered not only for its usefulness, but also as an element of style: an additional space where the pen of the designer can incorporate the overall building concept.

Wittur India teams win Gold and Silver Awards in QCFI Competition 2015

Wittur India Quality and Production team which participated in the Quality Circle Forum of India competition 2015, won the Gold and Silver Awards respectively. The competition was held at Chennai on the 19th and 20th September 2015. This is the 24th convention of the Forum.

Wittur and Sematic to merge in order to create a leading global supplier to the elevator industry

Combined company will become one of the significant global manufacturers of components, modules and complete systems for the elevator industry

Wiedenzhausen / Osio Sotto, 11 August 2015 – Wittur and Sematic today announced that they have agreed to merge in order to create a leading global supplier in the elevators and elevator components manufacturing industry. Bain Capital, as the owner of Wittur, and The Carlyle Group and the Zappa family, as joint owners of Sematic, have signed an agreement on the transfer of a controlling interest in Sematic to Wittur. Carlyle and the Zappa family will retain a stake in the combined entity.

Wittur CUBE: a new experience at INTERLIFT 2015

Wittur is proud to invite all professionals in the elevator business to come to the Interlift 2015 exhibition at the Augsburg Exhibition Centre from October 13^th to October 16^th 2015. The highlight of this year’s Interlift will be the new 1,500 m² modern pavilion, named ’WITTUR CUBE’,  exclusively dedicated to Wittur. WITTUR CUBE will be directly connected to the main entrance, Hall 1 and Hall 7.

The new building offers visitors the space required to experience a wealth of innovative elevator products, modules and solutions from Wittur’s extensive range
